A marvelous time/experience.  I was blessed to have been part of Organizing Committee albeit in a small way.  Working with Jan, Ross Sandi, Dawn. Rebecca, John(s), Lynne, Carol, Joe, Rob, Mary, Laurie, Gerry, Marsha, Wanda, Frank, Shelagh, Dave(s), Annie, Graham, Reg and so many more.  Let us not forget our dear friend Dave 50K Watts.  Working with this marvelous group and being immersed in a sea of friends, both old and new was a once in a life time experience.

Hi   I was curious about this site and whether there might be an upcoming reunion. I was a 1970 grad.   I went on to university at University of Ottawa (BPHE), University of Western Ontareion (Masters) and University of Toronto (PhD).  Currently (since 1989) I am employed at University of Sydney (Australia) where I am a Professor of Clinical Exercise Sciences.   Married. Two teenage boys.  Life   keep well, fellow Hawksters!   glen

Three plus years after the reunion! I always have tended to procrastinate! I had hoped to make it to the reunion but it was not to be. I hear it was great. A very delayed thank you to the organisers. I am a 1972 grad. I am still in Ottawa and still love it. My best to all. John Thomson

I can't believe that it's taken me 3 years to sadly inform old friends that I couldn't make the reunion, as my daughter #2 was graduating in Ohio.  I so wanted to attend and visit with good friends from the past.  This week, I had just been telling my 17 yr old (singer) daughter #4 that I must take her to see the HS and particularly the auditorium where I spent much time playing clarinet in the band and singing in the choir.  Hope you all had a really good time and re-friended old aquaintances.

I am now living in Toronto and Prince Edward Couinty.

Great job on the newsletters, they covered the 5 years I attended Hillcrest, so I saw many familiar names.

Thanks to the committee for providing us with a weekend to meet up with old friends and classmates.  I went on Friday night and especially enjoyed the cafe and the cafeteria.

Rain made us dash back and forth when visiting the tent, but to be honest, it was too loud out there anyway to be able to chat with friends, so indoors was better regardless. No disrespect to the band, but it seemed that what most people really wanted was to talk.

If I had a suggestion for next time, it would be to have a larger indoor pub open throughout the weekend, with alcohol available and low recorded music.

But it was great to reconnect and I hope it won\'t be too long before the next one as we\'re not getting any younger - ha.

Thanks again!

What a great weekend.  The Pub on Friday Night, the afternoon Saturday (even with the rain), the evening dinner Saturday and back for the brealfast/brunch Sunday.  Reconnected with so many people.

Jan Cook and Sandy need to be congratulated for all their hard work.  Their team did a fantastic job, Wanda, Ross, Bruce, Rob, and so many others.

Can\'t thank you enough for your efforts.  It was so much fun.

Wow....y\'know lookin back at that crazy time, I cant help but wonder what would be today if I ever did home work or studied for an exam. What seemed stressfull at times back then were really the best days ever. Yer biggest decision was "do I go to class or keep tossin the ball around out here. Hehehe what a laugh, good good good times at HHS.

Just heard about the reunion, and unfortunately must miss it as I\'m travelling with my wife in the Southern U.S.A. at present.  As a new (history) teacher in 1967, Hillcrest, the school, students and staff, were all so young, fresh and friendly.  I have the fondest memories of my three years there (and only left to travel in Europe).  The planning for the event, and the website, are superb:  Congrats Jan Cook and the volunteer committee.  Sorry to miss the reunion, and wish one and all a great time!

WowWhat a trip this is ! High School was magic for me.So many great memories...like coach Ray at the football medical grabbing my balls and telling me to turn my head and cough. What was that all about? To this day I don\'t know. And then there was Eldred Hayes who would yell at Ken Rogers who was goofin\' off in latin class  "Quid es nomen ludi".Its hard to imagine them teaching us Latin.Strange days indeed.I hope to make the reunion and tell some more stories.Ciao

Hillcrest was the best high school
Where Mr. Bradley enforced the golden rule
The musicals, football games, sock hops galore
And talent shows and proms that brought us in the dooor
From 61 to 64 was a super time in my life it\'s true
So hopefully I will get to see you in May and remember all of you.

I attended HHS from 63 to 66, [my father was posted out] and even though I attended two other high schools, its always Hillcrest that I think of when I think of high school.  It was a long time ago, and lots of water under the bridge, but looking forward to maybe seeing some of the guys and gals I hung out with.
A big thank you to Sandi and the others who are making this happen.
And can somebody send me the address of the school?

I was 14 years old when I played for the 1964 Hawks, winners of the OHS Junior Football championship. I was a player cut in initial tryouts. A few days later Larry Boyd who had made the team decided to discontinue playing so I went to the next practice, put his equipment on and went to practice and met Mr. Manale who said sure you can be on the team. So for the rest of the year I warmed the bench and listened to the older guys sing "there she is walking down the street singing do wa didi..." In all the years I played Hawk football that was my favorite year. At the end of the year I got my Hawk football jacket with gold leather arms and blue felt front and back.

I can only imagine what BL would say if he were to stumble upon this list of ne\'er-do-wells plotting a return to these hallowed halls.  It would likely be something many of us have heard before, like, " Get your jacket, your long hair, your boots and your barnyard britches and get out... go home!"  Seriously though, I\'m sure he would be proud to see the positive impact the Hillcrest experience eventually had on most of us.

It is great to see so many old friends and acquaintences signing on, here.  Hello, to all.

Back in the fall of \'62 I had to select one more subject for grade 10 and the choice was Russian or typing. Already working through French and Latin, typing seemed the better choice. Turned out there were a lot more girls than guys in the class and I figured down the road I could type a few papers in University. While that did indeed happen, I did not realize the need many years later for "keyboarding skills" as my kids\' termed it. I still remember those damn typewriters at Hillcrest without letters on the keys. I believe the passing grade was 50 and my grade was under 60!Rick Legeer

I was privileged to be one of the original teachers at the "School on the Hill." Being a football coach, a wrestling coach and a Phys. Ed. teacher I came into contact with many of the wonderful students who attended the school. I also take pride in being the person who gave the name "Hawks" to the interscholastic teams. The first principal, B.L.Bradley selected the school colours of gold, red and blue since these were the colours of his university, Queen\'s. I look forward to seeing (and, hopefully, recognizing) all the students who attended Hillcrest from 1961-1966. Best wishes to all. G.M.

It has been alot of years and it is sad to read the memorials.  They were good years, but who would have thought?  It\'s hard to believe that we were ever that young.  It can be a good life but sad nonetheless.  Remember Mr. Bradley wanting the firedoors kept shut, what a pain and Mr. Joyner making you take your running shoe off and then hitting you with it in the  butt?  Try that stuff today.

Greetings:

Allowing for the usual bumps, I have had a wonderful 40 years since escaping Mr. Bradley\'s critical glare and graduating from Hillcrest.

I am enjoying a very happy 16 year long second "marriage" (not church blessed), have two happy and successful children and a delightful grandson.

My career has taken me to Europe, Latin America, North Africa and the Middle East. Its been fascinating, despite the usual run of frustrating moments.

I am in regular contact with Lee Mosley, still see John Jury frequently during the summer months and remain in regular email and phone contact with Malcolm Gunn.  I meet a couple of times a year for drinks with Stu Nichol, Bob Tompkins, Doug Hartmann, Larry Licari and Kevin Murphy for drinks and dinner.

As I say, life has been good and I look forward to seeing friends and former classmates.

Just walking back in through the front entrance gives you chills - a few of us have done it recently.   We even took a self-guided tour of the school, which included some investigating to see if the round granite hands-free sink was still in the Boy\'s bathroom (it is btw).  Thank you Ross, and I think I might have voted for you for head boy!

I dropped out without finishing my grade 12 so I\'m  not sure who from my "crew" is actually up for the show, methinks most of them could not be bothered, but I\'ll put it out there to those I can dig up just in case any are up for it.  Thanks to Sandi for putting in the effort to do this, I know it takes alot.
As for me, I live in Ottawa so it\'s not a stretch to show up.

I am really looking forward to seeing all the old (never thought we would really be that) friends and aquaintences from those years.  Will be lots of fun to see what has happened to everyone!

Anyone who attended the 25th reunion back in 1986 (was it really that long ago?) knows just how much fun these events can be (the kid who played B.L. Bradley in the school play still cracks me up when I think about him delivering the line: “Get your hat and your coat and get out!”).
I’m looking forward to another weekend reliving my misspent Hillcrest years with my fellow classmates and detention-room inmates in 2011. See you there!

Can we go back just for a day to experience the feelings, sounds, teachers, sports events, plays, dances? I expect to re-unite with as many past friends as I can meet in one day. Lets start remembering the most exiting years of our lives. If you remember me, please search me out and we will retrace and exchange those precious moments. See you all there!

Seems like just yesterday it was our 25th!  ...the day before that, we were graduating high school and now I am retiring from the RCMP after 38.5 years on April 9th, 2010.  Where does the time go?  It sure will be interesting to meet classmates (1965-1969) again and see what you have all been up to.  I\'ll try and get my sisters Roberta, Veronica, Mary-Rose, Stephanie and my Aunt Barb to come to our 50th Reunion ...still proud of the Red, Blue and Gold!!!
